Alright, we’re going to have to buckle up a little for this one. The twin flame mirror image idea is a little complicated. Plenty of people disagree with the meaning, but it’s incredibly important to understand.

I’m trying to sum it up as easily as I can – The twin flame mirror image (or twin flame mirroring) is seeing something in your twin flame that is really a reflection of yourself. You’re seeing traits, strengths, and weaknesses in them, but in reality, they’re mirroring yourself back to you.

The good you see in them – is a reflection of you. The bad you see in them – is a reflection of you, too.

Twin flames mirror feelings and emotions constantly between each other.

A twin flame mirror image is the idea of seeing yourself in your twin flame. Parts of this can be wonderful, but it can also expose problems that we don’t want to see in ourselves. Properly using the mirror image side of the connection can help bring it closer to union, so it’s important to understand.

Don’t worry too much if that doesn’t make sense yet. I’ll go over an example of where you’ll likely see it happening and what you can do about it.

What Does It Mean to Mirror Your Twin Flame?

Let’s try with common examples of mirroring.

Example 1: Twin Flames Mirror Emotions

This is one of the easier examples to see. I’ve spoken about twin flames telepathy before, and we’ve covered that emotional link.

Out of seemingly nowhere, you might have waves of emotions from complete euphoria to stone-cold depression. You could be doing nothing more than sorting your socks and be overcome by a wave of arousal or excitement.

This is an example of mirroring your twin flames’ emotions. This connection between the two of you can share many things, and emotion is one of them.

This doesn’t mean you’ll both constantly feel the same way. The more extreme the emotion – the more noticeable the mirroring will be.

Example 2: Mirrored Flaws

This one is a little… less fun and generally harder for some people to accept. This is where we start getting a little deeper, and we might have to accept some unpleasantness about ourselves. This is what it takes to reach union with our twin flame, though; it isn’t all fun and games.

If you’re in the early stages of your journey and you’re going through a separation stage. If your twin flame is doing something you consider wrong. They’re annoying you, not acting the way you’d expect them to act, or (the common example) they’re entirely running from your journey – it can be incredibly easy to think they need to change their behavior.

But THEY are…

THEY just won’t…

It’s very likely your twin flame is just mirroring your own unreadiness back at you. I’ve said this before (and I’ll probably have to say it again): it can be easy to feel like the Twin Flame Runner is the one not doing everything they can to bring you into union.

The truth is (it always is) that if you’re not there yet, then neither of you are ready yet. It’s not all on them or you.

But twin flame mirroring is not there to try and make you feel bad. When you see the positive traits in your twin flame, these are a reflection of you, too. Plus it can be an incredibly powerful tool to getting you both closer to union.

Using Mirroring to Reach Union

The Mirror Exercise is a tool designed to help in the journey of self-reflection and healing with your twin flame. It’s a process that converts interpersonal conflict into opportunities for personal growth by highlighting the mirroring effect between twin flames.

We often hear terms and advice like “know yourself” or “self-love“, but humans are not wired to really see the truth in themselves that easily. It’s incredibly difficult to truly know yourself because we constantly tell ourselves these little lies.

We all do. That’s just part of being human.

These little lies don’t hold up to a twin flame connection, however. Your twin flame is you. It’s the other half of your soul in another body. You can’t hide the truth from them the same way as they can’t hide it from you.

Rather than ignoring the unpleasantness of seeing your own problems laid out in front of you – we need to use it. That brings us to the mirror exercise.

What Is the Mirror Exercise for Twin Flames?

twin flame mirror exercise

I’ve seen a couple of different variations of mirror exercises, but the basic idea is always the same. It’s a way to use this connection between the two of you and use mirroring to help bring you both closer to union.

Quick update: Ever since the Escaping Twin Flame Universe documentary, the mirror exercise has had a bad reputation for being used as a way of blaming yourself for everything. I can certainly see why this might be the case, but it’s not about blaming yourself for all the problems of the twin flame journey.

It’s about realizing that twin flame union is going to take some work. It’s about sparking twin flame healing in a way that actually helps drive you forward toward union. Sometimes, that means exposing yourself to some uncomfortable truths and then exploring if there is any truth to that.

The fundamental principle of the Mirror Exercise lies in the mirroring effect that your twin flame has on you. It’s based on the premise that your reality is a reflection of your inner state.

The exercise acknowledges that any negative sentiment you perceive in your twin flame relationship is often a reflection—or mirror—of your own unresolved issues. By addressing these personal blockages, you foster a harmonious union.

In order to reach union, you have to accept yourself and your twin flame. As a couple and individually. The positive and the negatives. We’re talking true unconditional love here. No more running away from ourselves or our mirror image.

The mirror exercise helps you find and deal with the areas you need to focus on to help both you and your twin reach union. Sometimes, it can be tough to go through, but the results can absolutely be worth it.

It’s also pretty straightforward.

  1. Put into words the biggest problem you’re facing in your journey. Take your time with this, and be as honest as possible about it. Ideally, write it down on paper. For example: “My twin flame doesn’t treat me the way I want to be treated”.
  2. Write it again, but this time, swap the nouns and direct the message at yourself. So, for this example, it would become: “I don’t treat myself the way I want to be treated”.
  3. Now, ask yourself if there’s any truth to that statement. Again, take your time with this, and don’t make any knee-jerk decisions. It can be hard to see the truth sometimes, but the more you do this exercise, the quicker you’ll be able to spot when you’re trying to lie to yourself.
  4. When you find truth, you need to ask yourself what you should be doing to heal.

Mirroring Sucks. Which Makes it Awesome

Nobody likes hearing me talk about twin flame mirroring. It’s not as fun or sexy as using astral projection or meditation to work on yourself. But it’s so damn useful.

Twin flame relationships are honest. You can lie to yourself, but you can’t lie to that connection.

Sometimes, that makes us face things we’d really rather not face within ourselves, but this is exactly what it takes to take that next step together.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking it’s all on your mirror soul. No matter what they are doing, the union will only happen when they focus on healing themselves, and you focus on healing them. It’s easy to just blame them and scream at the universe, but the moment you start actively working to improve yourself, that mirroring works in your favor – they’ll start mirroring and working on preparing themselves for union as well.

If you want further guidance, take a few minutes to tell me about your journey so far (including any mirroring) and get a twin flame reading.

Emotional Healing through Twin Flames

In a Twin Flame connection, emotional healing is pivotal. You’ll navigate deep-rooted patterns to find self-love and forgiveness, addressing layers that contribute to a sense of separation.

This practice lies somewhere between a way to understand your path and an active tool for manifesting your twin flame.

Identifying and Resolving Upsets

Your journey begins with identifying the upset. When you’re feeling discord or discomfort, it’s a signal to look within. To resolve these upsets, write down in clear terms what troubles you, like “I feel upset because I sense a lack of support.” This act of pinpointing helps you recognize specific feelings and the circumstances that trigger them, ultimately drawing a map to the core of your emotional barriers.

Transforming the feeling starts with acknowledging it fully. Mirror the issue back to yourself, replacing other nouns with pronouns focused on you. For example, change “I feel unsupported by my Twin Flame” to “I feel I am not supporting myself.” This shift in perspective drives the essence of the Twin Flame Mirror Exercise, fostering the crucial step towards healing and self-love.

Healing Layers of Separation

Recognition of emotional patterns leads to the unraveling of deeper layers of separation. Each layer represents accumulated traumas and unhealed wounds. As you peel these back, patience and a steady commitment to forgiveness are your assets. Forgiving yourself and your Twin Flame is not a one-off event; it’s a repetitive process that grows your understanding and diminishes the separation between you.

The act of releasing these layers is transformative. It may surface as triggering, but it’s a sign of progress. With each layer addressed, a step towards emotional unity is taken. This unity is reflected in your Twin Flame bond, as insecurities dissipate and mutual growth is fostered.

Remember, the goal is integration and wholeness, with an emphasis on nurturing self-love as the foundation for the connection.

Twin Flames and Inner Work

In the journey of twin flames, inner work is the cornerstone of harmony and self-realization. This transformative process involves peering into your own soul to understand and heal the deepest layers of your being.

Self-Discovery and Growth

Discovering the truth about yourself is the first step toward growth in the twin flame experience. Your twin flame acts as a mirror, reflecting hidden aspects of your character, especially those that need healing.

By recognizing these reflections, you become more aware of your triggers and the sources of upset. Acknowledging the parts of you that require transformation is powerful, as it leads to profound personal development and strengthens your connection with your twin flame.

Reflection and Introspection

Reflection and introspection are essential practices on your twin flame path. They enable you to observe your reactions and emotions objectively. When feeling triggered, instead of projecting your emotions outward, look inward.

Ask yourself, what part of this upset is mine to own? By doing so, you harness the power of introspection to identify personal challenges and work toward forgiveness and self-compassion.

This not only catalyzes transformation in your own life but also elevates the twin flame union to new heights of understanding and connection.

Chris

After struggling with my own twin flame journey for many years I became (I'll say it) almost obsessed with the twin flame journey and this path of self-discovery and improvement.

Now after sharing the stories of thousands of people going through their own journey I want to share my own thoughts and the patterns I see on twin flames.

I'm wary of speaking in absolutes on a subject like this. There's too much that any of us will really ever *know* (at least in this lifetime) so my opinions are based on my experience and the experience of those I speak to and who share their stories with me.

There are no two journeys that are ever going to be entirely alike but when you see enough of them, you do see definite patterns emerge.

  • After doing this for seven years, I feel I’m more in love with the world at large, more in love with myself – but this self-love has been a huge hurdle for me. Yet when I get real honest, in those moments it feels like he and I are in conversation, I have to admit some of the things I love most about him are qualities I have. We’ve “talked” about how there is nothing that can be hidden from the other. Not feelings, not thoughts. It’s impossible to hide anything. I put ” ” around talked because of course this is not in 3D. We’re 6,500 miles apart, a huge gap between our physical selves in more than one way. I did order a reading. Perhaps I failed to add pertinent things but I’m relying on your skill to fill in some blanks. There are times I feel the love him so immensely I’ve had ‘heartgasms’ just looking at him. It felt like a supernova in my heart. It exploded love energy beyond the walls of the room I was in, and all I could do was cry because it was such a love overload. I did want to point out that regardless of outer appearances, which are obviously completely opposite, our MBTI types are both introverted, intuitive and feeling – we have the same kind of heart. Yet typically with yang energy he is a J type (INFJ) and as Yin I am a P type (INFP) I didn’t even get to Astrology, Ours suns are mutually in each others 12th house (yes it’s a secret relationship and yes to highlighting the others buried stuff), We have a Mars/South Node conjunction, and our Venus are conjunct. Etc. Etc. Sorry to write so much. It’s just I’m so happy to find a place to write about my relationship. It’s one I would not allow him to make public, his whole career would crash – and music is his life. I want him to be happy, to have it all. We can just do our relationship on other levels. I asked for the reading because I’m still working on being worthy – so I’m insecure. I want reassurance and frankly more information and insight.
